#2024Reset: What is Holistic Empowerment?

I love to quote Lauren Hill’s Ex-Factor because there are so many relatable quoteables! If you hear the song playing in your head after reading that, we should be friends!


Let’s be 100 right now. WE MAKE THINGS HARDER THAN THEY HAVE TO BE.

We’re at the midyear point of 2024, and it is my goal to help you (and me) bounce back from our mishaps, circumstances, and presumed failures, and get back on track with a full reset. When I say full reset, that includes a holistic approach to empowerment. 

What do I mean by holistic? A total of all sums of who we are, how we live, and how we think. Our spirit, mind, heart, body, and life need to be reassessed and refreshed. We need to embrace this month to refocus so we finish this year the way we intended at the beginning of it.

Our lives will also be less than the best if we try to compartmentalize certain areas over others. Every single thing that you aim for in life is affected by your spiritual condition, your mindset, your inner healing or lack of it, and your physical health. Point blank period. Ignoring just one of these is a barrier to your best self and your better life.

Listen, I understand. It can be overwhelming to accept this and chart an improvement journey. I’m not asking you to walk a million miles in one day here. I’m showing you that there are multiple aspects of this journey that you have to consider and prepare for to stay the course. If you’re walking a journey of a million miles, it begins with recognizing that literally, it takes one single step to get started. Then one foot in front of the other eventually equals a mile. Being prepared for the elements such as storms is necessary to stay the course, but also remembering that storms don’t last forever. You will get tired sometimes; you have to account for this. You get distracted and get off course; recognizing this ensures you get back on track faster. It’s all interconnected. HOLISTIC.


I think it’s safe to assume that we all want something different for ourselves and those around us. It may not be a super ambitious quest for everyone, but something is something; it’s not nothing.

With that said, Sis, all of life is a journey that we walk every day, even when we’re being pulled, pushed, or dragged. If you started 2024 with a desire for something different, no matter how big or small, there is something you could and should be doing daily to get closer to that desire.

Let’s get practical with this now.

How to Achieve Holistic Empowerment

1. Spiritual Growth:

Prioritizing a relationship with our Lord God will provide you with a sense of peace and direction. You also will be reminded that you are but a small cog in a much much larger wheel of time. This humbling actually reduces the pressure that we tend to put ourselves under. Whether it’s through prayer, meditation, or spending time in nature, let the still, small Voice take on your burdens and give you everything that you need to keep living. 

2. Mindset Matters:

Everything starts with your mindset. A positive mindset helps you to see opportunities instead of obstacles. Practice gratitude daily and set your intentions with positive affirmations. In God’s Word, He is clear that true transformation comes from the renewing of your mind. 

   

3. Physical Health:

Your body is the vessel through which you experience life. Nourish it with healthy foods, stay active, and ensure you get enough rest. Physical health directly impacts your mental and emotional well-being. Think about it. This is your vehicle for life. Riding it until the wheels fall off definitely shouldn’t come sooner than later. Take care of you!

   

4. Emotional Healing:

Acknowledge and process your emotions. Seek therapy if needed, journal your thoughts, and surround yourself with supportive people. Emotional health is critical to your overall well-being. Remember, what you think triggers how you feel. How you feel prompts your actions. Start paying attention. 

   

5. Purposeful Living:

Define what success means to you. Set realistic goals that align with your values and purpose. Take actionable steps every day towards these goals, no matter how small they may seem. The intention here is alignment but you can’t align if you don’t know where you are and where you want to go. So all of this is again - interconnected. 

Practical Steps to Refresh and Refocus

1. Conduct a Midyear Review:

Reflect on the first half of the year. What went well? What didn’t? Use this review to adjust your plans and set new goals for the remaining months of 2024.

   

2. Create a Holistic Self-Care Plan:

Identify activities that nurture your mind, body, and spirit. Schedule these activities into your daily routine to ensure you are consistently caring for yourself. 3. Stay Flexible and Adaptable:

Life is unpredictable. Be open to adjusting your plans and strategies as needed. Flexibility will help you navigate changes without losing sight of your goals.

   

4. Seek Support and Build Community:

Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you. Join groups or communities that share your interests and values. Together, you can share experiences, offer encouragement, and hold each other accountable. The journey to holistic empowerment is ongoing and multifaceted. By taking a comprehensive approach that addresses your mind, body, spirit, and emotions, you set yourself up for lasting transformation. As we continue this month of refresh and refocus, remember that every small step you take brings you closer to your goals.
