A Month of Falling for Yourself
Today, I'm sharing from the heart, trying to keep it raw and real without the usual emotional rollercoaster. In the past six months, I've had the incredible privilege of connecting with amazing women virtually and in person through my meetups. Last week's discussion brought to light a common yearning–the desire to step out from behind screens, to crave community, and to find reasons to venture beyond our cozy homes.
These women, whether cautiously dipping their toes or bravely diving in, are teaching me something profound. Deep within, we know what we want. A sisterhood that provides safety, acknowledgment, and a fresh perspective on our unique journeys. We need more minds collaborating, more hands to lift us when we falter, and a community that doesn't cancel but helps us readjust our crowns.
Listening to these beautiful women share their transformation journeys, I hear not just their aspirations but also the underlying fears, insecurities, paralyzing voices, and conditioned mindsets contributing to their feeling stuck. They want liberation from joy-stealing jobs, draining relationships, and self-sabotage that fuels self-hate.
I want to embrace each of these women and infuse into them the potential, power, strength, smiles, and uniqueness that I see in them.
After decades of being my own client on this journey, here's what I've learned: You can't fall in love with who you don't know. While lust and infatuation might thrive in the unknown, unconditional love requires effort to truly know the person you're choosing to love. This applies not only to significant others but also to friendships and sisterhoods.
Friendships that nourish and endure require a courtship. They demand commitment, even when things seem a bit 'off.' This sisterhood is developed over time, where you 'fall in love' with your soul sister, someone who guards your heart and soul. Just like romantic relationships, friendships that last need effort and commitment.
This February, amid Black History Month and the celebration of love on Valentine's Day, I want to shine a light on a love often overlooked–self-love. And in the celebration of self-love, there's no better way than to truly get to know yourself.
How often have you cringed at the question, "Tell me about yourself"? Most of us answer based on roles, obligations, and expectations, rarely sharing who we truly are at our core. For any transformation, self-discovery is vital. So this month, let's dive deep into self-awareness, self-discovery, and self-love because, my friend, you deserve it. The world needs to know you, but first, you must know and value yourself.
Here's to a month of love on the internal level.
P.S. Stay tuned for a Self-Discovery workshop co-hosted by Luv Holistics at the end of February. Interested? Let me know! More details are coming soon.
